Prof Jagannath Mazumdar

Professor Mazumdar has nearly 50 years of University teaching and research experience. He has taught graduate level courses in continuum mechanics, theory of plasticity, theory of viscoelasticity, theory of vibrations, plates and shells, calculus of variations and its application to mechanics, mathematical biology, signal processing in biomedical engineering. Some of these courses were offered by him at the Michigan State University, East Lansing, University of Waterloo, Canada and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Professor Mazumdar has directed 23 Ph.D. theses, and 20 research projects for the degree of Honours in Applied Mathematics and Honours and Masters in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

Professor Mazumdar is a recipient of a number of National and International Awards. Together with many other prestigious bodies, Dr. Mazumdar has been a member of the American Academy of Mechanics since 1972 and a member of New York Academy of Science, U.S.A. He is an elected Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Australia (FIEAust.), which is now called Engineers Australia. He is also a long time Fellow of the Australasian College of Physical Scientists and Engineers in Medicine (FACPSEM) and a Fellow of the Australian Mathematical Society (FAustMS). He has been cited in the Who's Who of the World by the American Biographical Institute (ABI), 7th Edition onwards, in India's Who's Who (INFA Publications, 1985 onwards), and in Men of Achievement, International Biography Centre, Cambridge, England as well as in Australian Men and Women of Science, Engineering and Technology and Who’s Who in Australia. Professor Mazumdar was appointed a Member of the ORDER OF AUSTRALIA (AM) in the Australia Day 2012 Honours.
