Prof Tony Joon Hock Yeo
School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Nanyang Technological University

Professor Yeo graduated with a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the Imperial College, London University in 1990. Professor Yeo. He joined Nanyang Technological University, Singapore ( then Nayang Technological Institute ) in 1990 and he lectures and Fluid Mechanics and Biomechanics (circulation) and his research interest and focus has been in the area of heart valve engineering and cardiovascular engineering. Starting from 2000, Prof Yeo research and involvement with industry includes , (i) ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ii) arterial pusle analysis (iii) non –invasive glucose monitoring (iv) Colour correction for TCM tongue imaging.

Prof Yeo has directed 8 PhD and 8 Master degree students. He published in more than 150 peer reviewed Journal and International Conference. He has 3 patents relating to artificial heart valves.

He originated the Single Point Attached Commissure ( SPAC ) valve concept as a stentless reconstruct aortic valve that is effective and fast in implantation.

Prof Yeo also initiated and also founder of several startup companies that includes : (i) CardioTech International Corporation (USA) for bi-leaflet heart valve (ii) CardioMeditech for tissue valve reconstruction (iii) Glucostats International for non-invasive blood glucose and HbA1c monitoring and (iv) MedTech Imaging System for mobile tongue imaging system for TCM (v) TransCatheter Technologies, Germany (was EndoCor, Singapore) for percuataneous aortic valve (vi) BlueWind Lab for min-windtunnel and (vii) MiRA for medical innovation in reconstruction and analysis.

Prof Yeo is actively researching pressure independent Index derive from arterial pusle waveform for as an indicator or predicator for heart disease and stroke. He is also working on a bi-leaflet percuataneous bi-leaflet valve stent specifically for the venous valve failure.
